New Mom Survival Guide

An infant in your arms and thousands of questions in your mind! Relax dear we have all your answers.


Your thru the ordeal of pregnancy, you and your baby are home. You’re tired and excited at the same time. This is a very crucial time for you and your baby. Your infant is fragile and very very tiny their needs and care is your up most duty.

There are thousands of questions in your mind and all your answers are with us. Day in and day out you will get more and more confidant to handle the baby as the more time you spend the more you get used to your baby and their needs.

Infant care and concern- The minute you leave the hospital you’re pediatric will give you a list of things that need to be taken special care about.

There will be a list of vaccinations that will be given to you make sure you feed the dates in your memo’s or phones to remind you when the vaccine is due. Vaccinations are a must for your babies and they need to given at the right time and at the right age.

The Umbical cord where it was cut is an open wound, the doctor before you leave has given you a drying antiseptic powder for it, make sure you apply it time to time and keep the baby hygienically clean and infection free.

The soft spot on the baby’s scalp is very delicate, please ensure that it is always protected till it automatically fills up and hardens.

 Infants head and neck need support for the first three to four months, ensuring one hand is always supporting their neck is a must. Even when others are handling your baby make sure you tell them to support your baby’s neck while holding them.

Babies nail growth is a sign of their growth, but you need to keep clipping them off.  Babies tend to hurt themselves with their nails. Keeping their hands covered with mittens is also a good way to make sure their hands are away from their face and mouth.

Baby’s feed and sleep time will gradually settle with time, keeping the baby well fed is all you need make sure off. If your breast milk isn’t enough for your baby you can always start a top feed of formula milk.


Burping after the feed is very important. After you have fed your baby hold him vertical placing his head on your shoulder, some babies burp immediately some take a while. But make sure they are held vertically till they burp for at least 15- 20 minutes before you place them back on their cots. To be continue.....
