New Mom Survival Guide

Baby Hygiene-
Change your babies diaper as often as possible. Do not make the baby wear the same diaper for longer than 3 hours. In the night also whenever they get up for a feed ensure you change their diaper too.

Diaper rash cream is a must before making them wear a diaper. Baby skin is very sensitive, the wetness of the diaper can cause rash. To avoid it make sure you apply diaper rash cream at every diaper change. In case you baby has developed diaper rash its k no need to panic, the only treatment is keep the baby open for more time as rash dries up faster when exposed ,and more frequent diaper change.

Keeping the baby’s bottom and private parts clean can not and not be taken for granted. Pick up good quality baby wipes. Pampers makes baby wipes too and so d most baby product company’s. Clean the baby’s parts at every change with baby wipe apply lots of diaper rash cream even petroleum jelly like Vaseline would do only then make them wear the diaper.

If you are breast feeding there is no worries at all as your baby is getting the purest form of milk. Don’t forget to make them burp after every feed.

If you are bottle feeding the baby please make sure the bottle the nipple and the bottle cover is washed in baby safe detergent and then sterilized. Investing in a good sterilizer is a complete must.

Any vessels you will use for the baby has to be sterilized and this has to be done at least till the baby is 18 to 24 months old.
Formula milk advice can be taken from your health care expert.

Baby Bath Time-
Baby toiletries should be bought of good and known company only. Shoppers is a good store to buy their toiletries.

Buy a good quality bath tub for your baby and also buy the anti slip mat to place the baby on.
Before putting the baby in the tub check the temperature of the water, it should be warm not hot and neither cold.

Many babies throw a tantrum while bathing, there is nothing to fear. They will calm down eventually once they realize that bathing is a daily chore. No need to get paranoid over it, continue the babies bath as keeping the baby clean is also a part of baby hygiene.
After bathing him don’t forget to moisturize the baby before you make them wear their clothes.
Its best to feed the baby after their bath, if the baby has taken a feed before then make sure to wait for at least 45 minutes before bathing them.

Baby Sleep Patterns -
For the first few months the baby’s sleep pattern changes frequently. They sleep all through the day and stay awake all through the night. Make sure you catch a few winks when the baby is sleeping.
Gradually they will settle down and sleep more in the night and less in the day.

Make sure when your baby is sleeping there is pin drop silence in the house, any kind of noise and commotion can spoil the baby’s sleep and you will land up with a wailing baby.
Night duty of the baby can be divided, by both the parents so that the whole stress doesn't fall on the mom alone.

Things that are normal-
Breast fed babies poop more often and their poop is watery and not solid, please don’t think your baby has an upset stomach.

Babies on formula milk, their poop is more solid and less often than those who are on breast milk.
At times the babies remove curdled milk from their mouths that is normal too, its just undigested milk that has come out nothing to get worried about. Sometimes while crying the babies tend to puke curdled milk, no need to rush to the paramedics for it. But if the baby pukes more than 4 or 5 times in a day then it needs to be shown to the doctor immediately.
